Curious pets

Sniffing a bouquet can't hurt, but a nibble is quickly taken. Have you noticed that your cat or dog likes to do more than just admire a bouquet from a distance? This is something you should keep an eye on. Because as beautiful as our flowers are, they are not made for eating. Make sure that your pets (and children) can’t reach the bouquets. Place the flowers in a spot where you are sure that little paws or hands cannot reach them.

Not edible

None of our flowers are edible, but our bouquets can also contain flowers or branches that are really dangerous for four-legged friends. Think of the lily or tulip, for example. Here are some of the varieties that your dog or cat (or any pet for that matter) should never eat:

Asparagus fern

Aster

Astrantia

Bupleurum

Campanula

Clematis

Craspedia

Delphinium

Dianthus

Eryngium

Lilies

Ornithogalum

Peonies

Ranunculus

Ruscus

Eucalyptus

Lavender

Solidago

Tulip

Does your bloomon bouquet contain one or more of the above flowers or stems? Then place the vase in a spot that your dog or cat can certainly not reach. Is this not possible or do you want to err on the side of caution? Then remove these stems from the bouquet all together.

Our tip: put the poisonous flowers in a small vase in a place where your pet never comes, such as the bathroom or in a bookcase. Of course, you can also give them to someone else!
