The perfect vases for 2019’s cosiest interior trends

2018-10-08

A vase is more than a vessel for flowers. It’s a powerful object that updates the style of a space at home and tells a story — your story. We looked to key home decorating trends and rounded up the top interior styles to cosy up to, plus which decorative vases best suit each trend.

From Scandinavian simplicity to accents of brass for an ultra-luxe feel, there’s a vase for every interior vibe. Because, as we all know, it’s a vase of fresh flowers that adds that certain to a room.

Interior trend: Retreat to nature

Autumn rolls around and we all want to do is hibernate at home. Cosy up to this home trend by indulging in warm hues, earthy neutrals, and chunky knits. Dried flower arrangements are a nod to the changing seasons. Furniture and objects made of natural materials like wood, linens, pottery, and stone bring a sense of the outdoors and reconnect us to nature.

Key vase trend: ceramic

Pottery and ceramics are currently enjoying a revival, largely due to a desire for hand-crafted objects and their timeless beauty. We’ve designed our own ceramic vase that will be available to buy via your account from November — a new look for your bloomon bouquet that suits any interior.

Interior trend: New-age Nordic

Modern simplicity and understated style have kept Scandinavian design trending for years. To achieve this inviting yet effortless decor, mix muted colours, layered textures, clean lines and light wood. Calming colours like lavender, sage, and spiced honey — Dulux’s official colour of 2019 — create a restful space you'll want to retreat to.

Key vase trend: mini vases

Less is more when it comes to floral displays, a single stem in a mini vase can make a big impact.

Interior trend: Modern nomad

It’s natural for us, the more we travel, to want to bring our adventures into our home. Decorating trends are about bringing a sense of free-spiritedness into the home. Eclectic collections of colourful prints from around the globe, bold textures and native motifs, and lots of houseplants — especially variegated plants and cacti.

Key vase trend: stone and earthenware

Add colour to any space with contemporary earthenware vases decorated with bold prints, and giant stoneware floor vases that add a new dimension to your space. Ideal for a single branch or a bouquet of seasonal stems.

Interior trend: Art Deco revival

Seems like designers have dived deep into the ocean for interior inspiration and come up with scallops and scales. There’s a sophisticated return of oceanic Art Deco interiors that are plush and inviting: velvets in warm pastels, like charcoal, mint, and peach mixed with round-edged furniture swimming with mermaid scales.

Key vase trend: textured, coloured glass

We collaborated with Finnish design brand Iittala to curate the iconic Kastehelmi vase in an exclusive colour: water-green. The vase design itself was inspired by shimmering water droplets. The vase adds a splash of timeless style wherever displayed.

Interior trend: Affordable luxury

Layers of rich colour, opulent objects, and decadent design epitomise luxury. Making a statement can be achieved with just a few key items that instantly update your space. Objects like marble or brass vases, the back-in-vogue retro drinks trolley, and beautiful decorative details in rose, ochre, velvet, and smoked glass.

Key vase trend: brass and metal

A tall vase with a brushed-brass or gold finish looks like an expensive treasure without costing a fortune. They exude a luxe feel and work beautifully with seasonal flowers in autumnal hues of rich russet, green, and burgundy.

Whatever your interior style, be it eclectic with a nomadic flare or Art Deco-chic in calming pastels, there’s a decorative vase for every vibe. A vase magnifies the beauty of fresh flowers and tells a memorable story about you and your home to anyone who visits.
